About This Knife

Introducing the Norse Warden — a hand-forged Viking-style bearded axe crafted from durable 1095 steel, featuring a broad, curved cutting edge with a classic beard-shaped profile inspired by traditional Scandinavian axe designs. With an approximately 6.5-inch cutting edge and a razor-sharp finish, this axe delivers serious chopping power for camping, bushcraft, and outdoor work.

The approximately 25-inch overall handle is crafted from solid rosewood, showcasing rich natural grain and warm tones, and is finished with a durable wrapped leather grip section for secure handling during heavy use. The wood is left natural at the head and pommel, with a sleek black-finished lower grip for balance and control.

Each Norse Warden axe comes with a genuine leather sheath to protect the blade edge during storage and transport, making it easy to carry safely on camping trips or store securely at home.

Whether you're splitting kindling, clearing brush, or simply adding a striking piece to your collection, the Norse Warden combines rugged Viking heritage design with dependable modern performance.

Steel Care Instructions:
This axe is crafted from 1095 steel, which offers good resistance to rust and staining under normal use. For best results, wipe the blade clean and dry after each use, especially after exposure to moisture, sap, or damp wood. Store in a dry place with the leather sheath on to protect the edge, and avoid leaving the axe head wet or exposed to humid conditions for extended periods. A light coat of oil on the blade is recommended for long-term storage. Proper care will keep your axe performing sharp and rust-free for years to come.

Care & Maintenance

Cleaning & Storage
Hand wash only with warm water and mild soap. Never place a high-carbon or Damascus steel blade in a dishwasher. Dry immediately with a soft cloth. Store in a dry environment, ideally out of the leather sheath for long-term storage to prevent moisture retention.
Oiling the Blade
High-carbon steels will naturally patina over time, which adds character and protection. To prevent rust, apply a light coat of food-safe mineral oil or camellia oil after every use. For wood handles, occasional treatment with beeswax or boiled linseed oil will preserve the lustre.
Sharpening
Maintain the edge between uses with a ceramic honing rod. When it is time to sharpen, we recommend Japanese water stones (1000/3000 grit) maintained at a 15-20 degree angle per side. Avoid pull-through carbide sharpeners, as they remove too much steel and can chip the hard edge.
