About This Knife

Introducing the Ram's Hollow — a purpose-built skinner knife featuring an approximately 3.5-inch 12Cr stainless steel blade with a sharp, curved edge and a distinctive gut hook notch, making it ideal for field dressing, skinning, and detailed hunting tasks. The polished, mirror-finished blade offers a clean, sharp edge that holds up well through repeated field use.

The approximately 5-inch handle is crafted from genuine sheep horn, showcasing natural texture and rich earthy tones with subtle variation that makes every piece one of a kind. Brass pins secure the construction, while the ergonomic curved shape provides a comfortable, secure grip even during demanding outdoor work.

Each Ram's Hollow knife comes with a uniquely styled leather sheath, featuring hand-stamped detailing, a secure belt loop, and a snap closure, offering safe and stylish carry in the field.

Care & Maintenance

Cleaning & Storage
Hand wash only with warm water and mild soap. Never place a high-carbon or Damascus steel blade in a dishwasher. Dry immediately with a soft cloth. Store in a dry environment, ideally out of the leather sheath for long-term storage to prevent moisture retention.
Oiling the Blade
High-carbon steels will naturally patina over time, which adds character and protection. To prevent rust, apply a light coat of food-safe mineral oil or camellia oil after every use. For wood handles, occasional treatment with beeswax or boiled linseed oil will preserve the lustre.
Sharpening
Maintain the edge between uses with a ceramic honing rod. When it is time to sharpen, we recommend Japanese water stones (1000/3000 grit) maintained at a 15-20 degree angle per side. Avoid pull-through carbide sharpeners, as they remove too much steel and can chip the hard edge.
