Steel Care Instructions:
This knife features a high carbon steel blade, which offers excellent edge retention but is more reactive to moisture than stainless steel. To keep your blade in top condition:

  • Wipe the blade dry immediately after each use
  • Apply a light coat of mineral oil or gun oil after cleaning to prevent oxidation
  • Store in a dry place; avoid leaving the knife inside the leather sheath for long periods, as trapped moisture can cause rusting
  • Some surface patina or discoloration over time is normal for carbon steel and does not affect performance

Please Note: As with all high carbon steel blades, surface rust or patina can develop if the knife is not properly dried and oiled after use or exposed to moisture during storage. This is a natural characteristic of carbon steel and is not covered under returns or exchanges. Proper care as outlined above will keep the blade performing and looking its best for years.

Care & Maintenance

Cleaning & Storage
Hand wash only with warm water and mild soap. Never place a high-carbon or Damascus steel blade in a dishwasher. Dry immediately with a soft cloth. Store in a dry environment, ideally out of the leather sheath for long-term storage to prevent moisture retention.
Oiling the Blade
High-carbon steels will naturally patina over time, which adds character and protection. To prevent rust, apply a light coat of food-safe mineral oil or camellia oil after every use. For wood handles, occasional treatment with beeswax or boiled linseed oil will preserve the lustre.
Sharpening
Maintain the edge between uses with a ceramic honing rod. When it is time to sharpen, we recommend Japanese water stones (1000/3000 grit) maintained at a 15-20 degree angle per side. Avoid pull-through carbide sharpeners, as they remove too much steel and can chip the hard edge.
