Warranty
Welcome to the official Warranty Policy of HandForgedWork LLC. Every single blade that leaves our workshop is the culmination of immense dedication, traditional craftsmanship, and rigorous quality control. We stand firmly behind the durability and performance of our tools. We want you to feel complete confidence when you grip a HandForgedWork knife or axe, knowing that it was built to withstand the true test of time. To honor that commitment, we provide a robust lifetime warranty on our handcrafted items, ensuring that your investment in functional art remains protected.
Lifetime Coverage and Key Limitations
We are incredibly proud to offer a lifetime warranty against any defects in materials and workmanship. If a structural flaw occurs due to an error in our forging, heat treatment, or assembly processes, we will take full responsibility. However, to maintain the integrity and sustainability of this policy, there are two crucial limits that must be stated clearly and early:
- Original Purchaser Only: This lifetime warranty covers only the original purchaser of the item. It is non-transferable. To successfully initiate a claim, you must be able to provide valid proof of purchase directly from HandForgedWork LLC, such as your original order confirmation email or digital receipt. If you purchased the blade second-hand, it is unfortunately excluded from this warranty coverage.
- Definition of "Lifetime": For the purposes of this specific policy, the term "lifetime" strictly means the lifetime of the original owner. Furthermore, this policy strictly covers manufacturing defects and structural anomalies originating from our workshop. It is absolutely not a guarantee against the natural wear and tear that inevitably occurs when a blade is used for its intended purpose over several years.
Our Resolution Remedy
When a piece is formally assessed and confirmed by our master smiths to suffer from a genuine manufacturing defect, our sole resolution is a complete replacement of the item. We do not offer repair services for defective items under this warranty, nor do we issue partial refunds. We believe that if a blade is structurally compromised due to a manufacturing error, the only acceptable remedy is to forge a completely new, flawless replacement for you. If the exact model is no longer in active production, we will gladly replace it with an equivalent item of equal or greater value.
What is Not Covered
While our blades are forged to be incredibly durable, they are not completely indestructible. High-carbon steel tools require proper respect, usage, and maintenance. The following scenarios and damages are explicitly not covered under this warranty policy:
- Misuse or Abuse: Any damage that results from using the blade outside of its intended, reasonable purpose is excluded.
- Normal Wear and Tear: Scratches, scuffs on the handle, dulling of the edge over time, and general cosmetic degradation resulting from regular, active use are considered completely normal and are not categorized as manufacturing defects.
- Rust and Corrosion: High-carbon steel will naturally rust if it is not properly dried and oiled after use. Any rust, pitting, or severe corrosion caused by inadequate care is entirely the responsibility of the owner. Please refer to our Care Instructions for detailed guidance on maintaining your blade.
- Improper Sharpening: Any physical damage, edge geometry alteration, or overheating of the steel caused by the customer attempting to sharpen the blade—especially using motorized grinding wheels—immediately voids the warranty.
- Improper Tasks: The warranty is voided by damage resulting from prying, throwing (unless it is specifically designated as a throwing axe), chopping bone, chopping frozen materials, striking metal objects, or any other use the blade was not specifically designed to endure.
- Natural Patina: A darkening or slight discoloration of the high-carbon steel over time is known as a natural patina. This is highly expected, perfectly normal, and highly desirable as it acts as a protective layer against deep rust. It is absolutely not a defect.
How to Initiate a Claim
If you believe your blade has suffered a manufacturing defect, please contact our dedicated customer support team directly by emailing us at {{CONTACT_EMAIL}}. In your initial email, you must include your official order number to verify your status as the original purchaser. In addition, you must attach multiple clear, well-lit photographs detailing the specific issue or structural failure. Once received, our artisan team will carefully assess the photographs and respond with our initial evaluation and the required next steps.
Returning the Blade for Inspection
If your photographic claim is tentatively approved, you will be required to send the knife back to our United States facility for a thorough physical inspection. A master blacksmith must examine the blade in person to definitively confirm the presence of a manufacturing fault. If the inspection confirms that the failure was indeed due to a manufacturing defect, HandForgedWork LLC will fully reimburse you for the return shipping costs and will forge and send your brand new replacement blade completely free of charge.
Conversely, if our physical inspection reveals that the damage was caused by misuse, abuse, inadequate care, or any of the explicitly excluded actions listed above, the claim will be denied. In this scenario, the customer is fully responsible for covering all shipping costs—both the cost of returning the damaged blade to us, and the cost of shipping it back to the customer.
